Biante Website Releases - February 20th

This week we have some impressive new releases for Supercar fans, starting off with the 2016 Phillip Island SuperSprint HRT "ANZAC Appeal" Holden VF Commodores of Garth Tander and James Courtney in 1:18 and 1:43, plus the 2017-season Freightliner Racing VF of Tim Slade in 1:43, limited to only 144 pieces. There's also the 1:43 Spitfire Green Holden VFII Commodore SS-V Redline & the 2016 Sandown 500-winning VF Commodore of Tander and Warren Luff in 1:64 - the last HRT win.

After being introduced in the 2013 season, Holden Racing Team’s ANZAC tribute has become an annual initiative by Holden and HRT. It is supported by the Returned & Services League, with the livery raising awareness and funds for the RSL’s annual ANZAC Appeal. The 2016 version saw the famous HRT lion and driver logo again replaced by the RSL’s ANZAC Appeal Rising Sun logo, with a silhouette of ANZAC diggers from the original Gallipoli landing featuring on each side of the car and bonnet. The ANZAC Appeal logo was also featured on the boot lid, front windscreen, and on the rear wing.

Once again Biante have gained special approval to produce these models and staying true to the purpose of the ANZAC livery each year, part proceeds of the sale of this model will be donated to the RSL’s ANZAC Appeal.

These replicas of the 2016 Holden Racing Team ANZAC Appeal Commodores have been produced in die-cast with a highly-detailed racing interior and faithfully replicated livery. Each of these models have been produced in an exclusive limited edition of 300 and include a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

After running predominantly black and red liveries in years gone by, Freightliner Racing surprised motorsport fans everywhere when they unveiled a vastly different colour scheme for the 2017 Supercars Championship Season. The smart looking white, red and silver livery was one that was celebrated by race fans and should look fantastic when replicated on this very limited edition collectable model.

The Series 2 VF SS-V Redline was the flagship of the final Australian-built Commodores. With a 6.2 litre, 304kW LS3 V8 engine, 19 inch alloy wheels, electric sunroof, leather appointed interior and Brembo performance brakes. This beautifully built diecast model in the hero colour of Spitfire Green is a fitting tribute to Australia's late, lamented car industry and the unique vehicles it produced.

In possibly the biggest news of the 2016 Supercars Championship season, Holden announced that it would no longer be supporting the Walkinshaw Racing-run Holden Racing Team in 2017, opting instead to send its funding and the 'official factory team' title to the Triple Eight Race Engineering-run Red Bull Racing Australia. It was a move that created mass headlines and significant backlash from the HRT faithful at the time but at the end of the day the deal had been done and ultimately most people moved on.

Later that season came the Wilson Security Sandown 500, dubbed the 'Retro Round' as many teams embraced the history of the sport or their teams by running retro styled liveries or uniforms. HRT bucked the trend and arrived with the same livery they had run all year, clearly opting to focus on their results on track rather than the celebrations around it. It worked.

Starting from P2, Tander and Luff took out the iconic race with the front guard of their car hanging off and Red Bull Racing Australia's Shane van Gisbergen finishing fast, closing the final gap to 0.34 seconds. The win added a Sandown 500 victory to an already long list of achievements for Tander and history will show that the result would also mark the last win for that era of the Holden Racing Team, a fitting finish given only Mark Skaife represented the team more times than Tander.
